15 Questions to Ask Before Renting a Villa in Mexico

These questions could be very important to you and add or impair the quality of your vacation time. Remember you are in Mexico their hotel standards are not necessarily the same as American standards.

2. Does each bedroom have a bath located in the bedroom?

3. How many levels to the villa?

4. How many sets of stairs between dinning area and bedrooms?

5. Is location walking distance to town?

6. Is the walking distance to public transportation on level or hilly ground?

7. Can you walk to beach?

8. If your villa id not on same level as beach, how many stair steps to the Beach?

9. What is the screen size of the TV’S in the villa?

10. Is the pool heated?

11. Is the Villa air conditioned and does it work in all rooms?

12. What is distance from villa to super market and liquor store?

13. If the house person shops for you, are cab fares added to your bill?

14. Is all water in the villa purified?

15. How far are you located from restaurants?

Other things to consider the larger villas come staffed with maid, houseboy and cook. Do you really want to eat all your meals in your villa? If your group is small and you like to dine in the different restaurants you may prefer a villa, with out a cook, permitting you to cook when you wanted. If you have youngsters to dress and get out to dinner, you will love having the cook, and you will have control over the menu. Choosing a villa over a condo would still allow privacy and exclusive use of your own pool. The staff will help you to find and plan tours, but you must remember you are in Mexico, you must ask questions about the tours similar to those above. Does air conditioned car mean no windows or factory air? Does the fishing boat tour include the fishing license? Are there departure taxes or entrance fees? The location in Mexico makes a difference. Some areas are more expensive than others for rent and food. Not all costal areas offer great seafood. You must ask about the things that are important to you. And after all these questions you get there and things still are not quite right, behave like an experienced world traveler, have a margarita and enjoy your vacation anyway.
